Tanner Jansen, a 6-5 senior opposite for No. 7 University of Southern California, has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Men's Division I-II National Player of the Week. It was a career weekend for Jansen as he led his Trojans to victories over a pair of MPSF rivals. Against Cal State Northridge, the senior recorded a match-high 13 kills on an even .500 hitting with five digs and a block. The following day was perhaps his greatest performance wearing the cardinal and gold. In their four-set victory over then-No. 2 Long Beach State, he smashed a career and match-high 26 kills hitting at a .426 clip. Defensively, he recorded eight digs and three blocks. The victories moved the Trojans to fifth place in the MPSF standings.
This is the 14th time in program history a USC student-athlete has garnered Sports Imports/Player of the Week honors, with the most recent coming from Lucas Yoder on the first week of the 2014 season. Southern California is coached by Bill Ferguson.
