Taylor Crabb, a 6-0 senior outside hitter for No. 7 Long Beach State University, has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Men's Division I-II National Player of the Week. The 49ers completed the regular season with two sweeps over No. 15 Cal State Northridge with Crabb once again leading the headlines. The 2013 AVCA Player of the Year smashed a match-high 17 kills, hit .469 and recorded six digs on Senior Night in the Walter Pyramid. He followed that up two days later at Northridge where he once again proved he is one of the best all-around players in the game today. He nailed another 13 kills on .750 hitting with four digs and as many blocks. He completed the regular season with double-digit kills in every match as he leads his squad into the MPSF Quarterfinals against Pepperdine on Saturday.
This is the 25th time in program history a Long Beach State student-athlete has garnered Sports Imports/Player of the Week honors. The most recent LBSU recipient of the award is Dalton Ammerman, who won it on February 5th of last year. The 49ers are coached by Alan Knipe.
