Tyler Henderson, a senior outside hitter for the University of Tulsa, has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division I National Player of the Week. Henderson helped the Golden Hurricane remain atop the Conference USA standings with a pair of home victories last week over UTEP and Tulane. In their first match over the Miners, the Oklahoma native nailed 31 kills hitting .434. This was her second match of the year with 30+ kills after reaching that mark in their win at Houston on September 28th. She maintained a strong level of play in their match two days later against Tulane, smashing another 18 kills hitting at a .424 clip. The senior also added a season-high four service aces to go along with six digs and four blocks. The 2011 AVCA All-American has been a thorn on her conference opponents' side, leading all C-USA players in kills with 5.31 per set, resulting in her second 2012 Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week award. This marks the second time a student-athlete from Tulsa has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division I National Player of the Week, with both of them going to Henderson, last winning it on October 12, 2010. The Golden Hurricane is coached by Steven McRoberts.
