Val Geiger, a sophomore middle blocker for Chapman University, has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division III National Player of the Week.  Chapman had a strong week, winning both of their matches to improve their overall record to 14-4 and 8-1 in the SCIAC.  In their first match against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges, Geiger tied the team season-high and a personal career-high with 23 kills, not to mention an accompanying .477 hitting percentage and four digs.  She followed up that performance with another 17 kills, but this time hit an astounding .500 with 30 attempts and two errors in the sweep over Redlands.  This is the first time an athlete from Truman has earned the Sports Imports/AVCA Division III National Player of the Week award.  The Panthers are coached by Mary Cahill.
