Head Coach, Adelphi University
Garden City, NY
NCAA Division II
Danielle MacKnight just completed her third season as the head women's volleyball coach at Adelphi University. The Panthers turned in a 27-10 record in 2009, finishing second in the Northeast-10 Conference regular season standings with a 14-1 league mark. In addition, MacKnight and the Panthers were runners-up in the Northeast-10 Volleyball Championship and earned their third consecutive trip to the NCAA Division II Women's Volleyball Tournament.
After graduating from college, MacKnight still wanted to be involved as much as she could with the sport, so she decided that coaching was the next step. In just her second season as Adelphi's head coach, MacKnight helped the Panthers set seven team records and establish three new individual records. In her tenure she has graduated six players who have earned all-conference laurels and mentored four AVCA Division II All-Northeast Region athletes.
MacKnight currently sits with an 81-29 career record as a head coach and, in addition to continuing to grow the Panther program, is on pace to reach her 100th career victory in 2010.
