Associate Head Coach, Central Michigan University
Mount Pleasant, MI
NCAA Division I
In his third season as associate head coach of Central Michigan University's women's volleyball program, his alma mater, Dave Zelenock successfully guided the 2009 Chippewas to a 17-13 record and fourth-place showing in the Mid-American Conference standings, after improving from fifth in 2008 and eleventh in 2007.
Before his career at CMU began, Zelenock acquired an abundant amount of coaching experience. At the collegiate level he had coached at Northwood University from 2004-2006 and at Delaware State University from 2006-2007. Zelenock has coaching experience at the high school level as well, mentoring Mount Pleasant Sacred Heart Academy while he was a student at CMU. While with Mount Pleasant Sacred Heart Academy, he also coached the CMU women's club volleyball team, guiding the squad to a 42-2 record and fifth-place national finish in 2005.
Zelenock looks to continue his coaching career through a head coaching position when the time comes for him. "I hope to move into a head coaching role when I am ready," Zelenock stated. "I hope that place is a place that my family is comfortable, so we can be there for a long time. Once there I don't want to bounce around, I want to build that program into the best it can be and compete for a conference title and NCAA bids every year."
