Assistant Coach, Eckerd College
St. Petersburg, FL
NCAA Division II
After completing a four-year career as a student-athlete at Eckerd College, Kelly Morrisroe came aboard as an assistant coach with the program in 2007. In her three seasons as an assistant at her alma mater, Morrisroe has helped guide the team to three consecutive NCAA Division II Tournament appearances. The Tritons put together a 20-12 overall record in 2009, spent six weeks ranked in the AVCA Division I Coaches Top 25 Poll, and made it to the second round of the NCAA Division II Tournament.
Morriscoe credits her desire to enter the coaching ranks to her college coach (current Eckerd head coach) Courtney Draper. "I began spending a couple hours a week in her office as a work-study during my freshman year," said Morrisroe. "From that point on, I was hooked. I realized I loved everything about the profession. She has really taught me just about everything I know about this game and also how to balance life with athletics."
"I would be kidding myself I didn't tell you I'm coaching college volleyball to win," stated Morrisroe. "I want to win a national championship, but such an important part of our profession is how to achieve that success. We shape the lives of our student-athletes through that experience. I want to help each of my players achieve their own personal goals - whatever they may be - on the way to our team goals."
