Assistant Coach, University of Tennessee Martin
NCAA Division I
After a four-year career at Clarion University, Kristi Fiorillo has been an assistant coach at the University of Tennessee Martin the past two seasons, where she works specifically with the setters and on the defensive side of the net. She made an immediate impact at UT Martin, as in her first year on campus, the Skyhawks qualified for the Ohio Valley Conference tournament for the first time in six years.
"I went into coaching because of my strong passion for volleyball," she said. "I can't imagine volleyball not being a major part of my life and I believe coaching is what I was meant to do."
Fiorillo was an ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American in her senior season at Clarion, and is currently finishing her master's degree in education at UT Martin. She aspires to become a head coach before she is 30 years old. "My dad coached my sister and I growing up in every sport imaginable, now my sister coaches basketball at the University of Maine, and me volleyball," she said. "I think coaching is somehow in our blood! I absolutely love my job and I hope I can continue to coach the rest of my life!
