Vince Muscat

Head Coach, Allen Park Inter-City Baptist
Alan Park, MI
High School

Vince Muscat is the varsity head coach at Allen Park Inter-City Baptist in Michigan. He began his coaching career in 2003 as a varsity assistant at Annapolis High School, then became varsity assistant and head junior varsity coach at Garden City High School from 2004-2008.

In addition, he is the founder of the Ohana Volleyball Club and the Garden City Winter Youth League.

Getting into coaching was an easy decision for Muscat.

"I love the challenge and competition of athletics, especially volleyball," he said. "Volleyball brings out a diverse skill set needed just to be competitive. The amount of work going into training each skill takes meticulous observation and teaching. Youth athletics, especially volleyball, exposes character of the individuals involved and teaches life lesson. It is a classroom in a gym."

As for career goals, he adds: "My career goal in volleyball is to be known for being a coach that cares about each of his players. Coaching at the college level is a personal goal, if the right pieces fit into place."

A passion for the game is one of the reason why John Pace, head coach at Garden City High School, nominated Muscat for this award.

"He has a passion for the game that every coach should posses," Pace said. "He gives of his personal time to not only coach, but to become a student to the game. Coaching, watching a coach, a clinic or just watching matches - he is always there."
