Stephanie Kines, 5-11 sophomore middle
blocker for top-ranked Juniata College (32-3, 7-0 Commonwealth), has been
named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division III National Player of the Week for
pacing the Eagles to victories over Lebanon Valley and Susquehanna. She
helped Juniata win its 24th consecutive Commonwealth Conference championship
and berth into the NCAA Tournament. Kines hit .660 for the week on 47
attempts over two matches, including per game averages of 6.83 points, 5.83
kills, 1.00 blocks and 0.67 digs. She hit .500 with 10 kills, five blocks
and two digs versus Lebanon Valley on Nov. 3. Kines recorded a .742 attack
percentage in the conference championship against Susquehanna. She tallied
25 kills and a block in the title match. Kines improved her season averages
to 4.95 points, 3.70 kills and 0.86 blocks per game this week. She hit
nearly .200 better during the week than her season attack percentage of
.466. Kines is the eighth Eagle player to receive the national honor. The
Juniata head coach is Larry Bock.
