Erin Gudmundson, a 6-0 junior middle blocker for top-ranked University of Nebraska at Kearney (36-0, 19-0 Rocky Mountain), has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division II National Player of the Week after pacing the Lopers the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Tournament title. She hit. 467 during the tournament with averages of 5.22 kills, 1.67 blocks, 1.21 digs and 0.33 aces per game. Gudmundson registered 15 kills with a .406 attack percentage against Colorado-Colorado Springs, in addition to seven digs and three blocks. She charted 19 kills, a .516 hitting percentage and six blocks in a victory over Metro State in the semifinals. Gudmundson contributed 13 kills, six blocks and a .481 attack percentage in the title match against 12th-ranked Fort Hays State. She was named the most valuable player of the tournament as UNK swept all three opponents. She surpassed the 1,500-career kill mark over the weekend. She also earned the national award on Oct. 13, 2003, and is the fourth national honoree in school history. The Nebraska-Kearney head coach is Rick Squires.
