2001 AVCA Division I Awards Committees

Included with this letter is the list of district and nationally ranked teams to be used for the compilation of statistics for your nominees for all-region and all-America awards.

Please refer to the 2001 AVCA Division I Awards Packet and the "Post-season Nomination Form and Procedures" when you compile the statistics for your players.  When you complete the "Individual Season Totals" for your players (bottom of page 9 in the awards packet) you must submit each player's statistics against:

1) all teams on your schedule;
2) regionally ranked opponents only (from all regions, not just your own); and,
3) nationally ranked opponents only.

** use only the teams listed on the following page when calculating statistics against regionally and nationally ranked teams; do not add teams as new polls and/or rankings are released.

When you compile the statistics for your players, we need each player's statistics against 1) all teams;  2) all regionally ranked teams only (from all regions not just your own);  and 3) all nationally ranked teams only.  There are areas provided for this information on the post-season nomination forms which can be found in your AVCA awards packet.  To be considered a regional-ranked team, an institution must have been ranked after the first regional rankings (Oct. 3-Oct. 31).  A nationally ranked team is defined as any team that has spent three or more weeks in the USA TODAY/AVCA Division I Coaches Top 25 Poll, not counting the preseason poll.   If you do not have an AVCA awards packet, you may obtain one from the AVCA web site (http://www.avca.org) in the Forms and Packets section. You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader, a free downloadable program with a link in the Forms and Packets section, to open the Awards Packet.

PLEASE REMEMBER THAT YOUR POSTSEASON NOMINATION FORMS MUST BE FILLED OUT COMPLETELY AND MUST BE POSTMARKED BY MONDAY, NOV. 26, 2001.  ALL NOMINATIONS ARE DUE VIA OVERNIGHT MAIL IN THE AVCA OFFICE BY TUESDAY MORNING, NOV. 27, 2001.  NO FAXED OR LATE ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED.

Wednesday, November 21 - Coaching Award Nominations Due

Monday, November 26 - Player Nomination Packets Overnight Mailed
