Willoughby, a 6-0 junior outside hitter for second-ranked University of
Hawai’i (19-0), has been chosen the AVCA/Sports Imports Division I National
Player of the Week. Willoughby tallied 23 or more kills in three matches
this week, an average of 7.78 kills over the course of nine games. She
posted 23 kills in back-to-back outings versus Notre Dame, and followed
with 24 against Fresno State. The tally of 70 kills on the week moved Willoughby
into fourth place on the Rainbow Wahine career list with 1,508. Willoughby
collected double-figure digs in the first match against the Irish (12)
and versus the Bulldogs (15) to bring her kill-dig double-double season
total to 13. On the week she averaged 3.89 digs and hit .329 (70-22-146).
Willoughby increased her season kill average to 6.36 per game and was named
the Western Athletic Conference Player of the Week for the second time
this year.
