Jennifer
Joines, a 6-3 junior middle blocker for the University of the Pacific (9-5),
has been chosen the AVCA/Sports Imports Division I National Player of the
Week. Joines averaged 6.50 kills, 2.50 digs and 1.50 blocks per game in
sweeps of Sacramento State and Cal State Northridge. She registered a total
of 39 kills with just one error in 66 attempts (11.0 attempts per game)
in the two matches. Joines pounded 19 kills with zero errors, collected
10 digs, two aces and five blocks in the win over Sacramento State. She
followed that outing with 20 kills and a .655 attack effort against Cal
State Northridge. Her weekend performance moved Joines into eighth spot
on the UOP career blocks chart with 430 and 10th on the kills list with
1,266. Joines was selected as the Big West Player of the Week and ranks
first in the league in blocks per game (1.62), second in kills per game
(4.96) and third in hitting percentage (.376).
