Megan Hodge, a sophomore outside hitter for No. 3 Penn State,
has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division I National Player of the
Week. She earned the award for her MVP performance at the Penn State
Classic, where she helped the Nittany Lions to three sweeps of opponents,
which included then-No. 24 St. John's. In the match against the Red Storm,
Hodge put away 18 kills in 27 attempts with only three errors for a .556
hitting percentage, while also adding nine digs and three total blocks in
the win. She followed that up with a 15 kill, .583 hitting, nine dig and
nine total block performance in Penn State's win over Colgate. She finished
the tournament with a double-double, 12 kills and 12 digs, while also
chipping in three total blocks in the final match opposite VCU. For the
week, Hodge averaged a .514 hitting percentage, 5.0 kills, 3.3 digs, 1.2
blocks and 5.72 points per game. Hodge is the fourth athlete from Penn State
to be named Sports Imports/AVCA Division I National Player of the Week. The
Nittany Lions are coached by Russ Rose.
