Aline Pereira, a 5-10 junior outside hitter for George Mason University (8-3), has been chosen the AVCA/Sports Imports Division I National Player of the Week. Pereira averaged 7.50 kills per game in GMU’s two wins. She pounded 36 kills, one shy of her career best, in a five-game victory over James Madison. The Patriots were down 14-11 in game five when Pereira served three points to tie the score at 14, and GMU went on to take the deciding game 21-19. She added nine digs, two blocks and two aces while hitting .419 (36-5-74) for the match. Pereira followed that outing with a 24-kill, 12-dig performance in a sweep of UNC-Wilmington. She had only four errors in 39 attempts to record a .513 attack effort. Pereira was also chosen the Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Week.
