Gamble
led the Lady Reivers to a 60-4 record and the NJCAA Division I National
Championship in just his second year at the school.
LEXINGTON, Ky. (Dec. 11, 2006) - The American
Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA), in conjunction with Tachikara USA, Inc.,
is proud to announce that Iowa Western Community College's Terry Gamble has been
selected as the 2006 Tachikara/AVCA Two-Year Colleges National Coach of the YearSM.
"It
is a great honor to be given this award," Gamble said. "And, to be given it in
the same year that one of my players is given the AVCA National Player of the
Year award, makes it even more special. It is a tribute to the wonderful season
the team achieved."
Gamble, who is in his second
year coaching at Iowa Western, led the Lady Reivers to a 60-4 overall record and
the NJCAA Division I National Championship, capped off with a 3-0 win over then-
No. 1 Western Nebraska Community College. Additionally, in all of Iowa Western's
60 wins this year, the team did not lose a game.
Gamble has a 631-128 overall
record in his 12 years of coaching, which have produced eight All Americans and
three National Player of the Year award winners. He has been named Region Coach
of the Year seven times and National Coach of the Year three times. He has also
led his teams to nine conference championships, four regional championships and
his teams have been ranked in the top 20 nationally every year.
Tachikara will formally
present the AVCA Two-Year Colleges National Coach of the YearSM
award to Terry Gamble on Dec. 14 in Omaha, Nebraska at the Tachikara/AVCA Coach
of the Year and Victory Club AwardsSM
banquet. The banquet is held in conjunction with the 2006 AVCA Annual
Convention.
