Midwest
Region Coach of the Year
LuAnn Zimmick, College of DuPage
Zimmick led the College of DuPage to the
NJCAA Division III national championship. The fourth-seeded Chaparals
upset No. 1 Jamestown, No. 2 Owens and No. 3 Ridgewater College en route
to claiming the title. DuPage also won the Region IV State Championship
and the North Central Community Colleges Conference Tournament. For
the first time in school history, the Chaparals had three players earn
NJCAA Division III All-America status.
Northeast-Southeast
Region Coach of the Year
Jerry Hulla, Catonsville Community
College
Hulla led Catonsville to a perfect 20-0
record in Region XX and an undefeated mark in the Maryland Junior College
Conference (11-0). The Cardinals finished the season with a 25-match
winning streak and have gone unbeaten at home the last three years.
Catonsville was ranked as high as No. 19 in the NJCAA Division I national
poll.
Southwest
Region Coach of the Year
Lisa Stuck, Glendale Community College
In her first year as head coach, Stuck
led the Gauchos to a 43-3 overall record and a third-place finish at the
NJCAA national tournament. Glendale claimed the Regional I Tournament,
Yavapai Tournament and defeated Ricks College at the Valley of the Sun
Championship for the first time in school history. They ended the
season ranked No. 4 in the NJCAA national poll.
West
Region Coach of the Year
Lori Richards, Utah Valley State College
Richards guided the Wolverines to a 46-9
overall record, with six of those losses to top-ranked and six-time national
champion College of Southern Idaho. UVSC shared the title at the
prestigious Jefferson Tournament with wins over nationally-ranked Miami-Dade,
Illinois Central and Jefferson. They finished second in four other
tournaments behind CSI. The teams 46 victories are the most wins
in a season in Richard’s 18-year tenure.
