Tony Ker, a 5-10 libero for then-No. 10 UCLA, has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division I-II Men's National Player of the Week. Ker earned the award for not only helping his team to three important wins last week, but also for breaking the UCLA all-time record for career digs during the Bruins’ 3-1 win over second-ranked Division III opponent UC Santa Cruz. He now has 1,125 digs in his career, along with 55-career double-digit dig matches, which includes 13 this season and all three matches last week. In addition, Ker now has 58 career error-free passing matches, including 10 this season, and all three last week, which included 35 errorless passes in a win over then-No. 6 UC Irvine. In all last week, Ker tallied 89 reception attempts without a single error, and averaged 3.38 digs per game. This is the 15th time a player from UCLA has been named Sports Imports/AVCA Division I-II Men's National Player of the Week. The last Bruin to earn the award was Steve Klosterman on February 26, 2007. UCLA is coached by Al Scates.
