Jan Kehres, a senior outside
hitter for then-No. 2 Wittenberg, has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA
Division III National Player of the Week after leading her team to three
wins last week, including two over nationally-ranked opponents. In the
Tigers’ first match, Kehres put away 12 kills, while chipping in 14 digs,
three aces and two total blocks in a sweep of Allegheny. She followed that
up with a .524 hitting performance on 13 kills in 21 attempts with only two
errors, while also registering 13 digs, one ace and three total blocks in
Wittenberg's sweep of then-No. 24 Hiram. Kehres ended the week with 12
kills, nine digs, and one total block in the Tigers’ 3-0 victory over
then-No. 22 Capital. For the week, Kehres hit at a .338 clip, while
averaging 4.1 kills, 4.0 digs and 5.1 points per game. This honor marks the
ninth time an athlete from Wittenberg has been named Sports Imports/AVCA
Division III National Player of the Week, and the second time this year, as
Jackie Williams received the award on September 10. The Tigers are coached
by Paco Labrador.
