Leah Rosenbaum, a senior
middle blocker for then-No. 7 Wisconsin-Oshkosh, has been named the Sports
Imports/AVCA Division III National Player of the Week. She earned the award
for her play in helping the Titans win four matches at the Illinois Wesleyan
tournament this past weekend, including an upset of then-No. 4 Emory. In
the Titans’ upset sweep of the Eagles, Rosenbaum put away 15 kills in 20
attempts with only one error for an incredible .700 hitting percentage.
UW-Oshkosh then ended the first day of play in the tournament with a 3-1
triumph over Hope College in which Rosenbaum hit at a .375 clip behind 18
kills, while also adding five total blocks in the win. She started the
second day of the event with 13 kills on 21 attacks and zero errors for a
.619 hitting percentage in the Titans’ sweep of Millikin. Rosenbaum then
ended the tournament with a 15 kill, eight-total block performance in the
Titans’ 3-2 win over host Illinois Wesleyan. For the week, she hit .437,
averaging 4.06 kills, 1.13 blocks and 4.83 points per game, netting herself
all-tournament honors. Rosenbaum is the third athlete from UW-Oshkosh to
earn Sports Imports/AVCA Division III National Player of the Week honors,
and the first since Christina Southward in October of 2001. The Titans are
coached by Brian Schaefer.
