Vivian Lacy, a senior outside hitter for Tusculum College,
has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division II National Player of the
Week. She earned the honors by helping the Pioneers to wins over three
South Atlantic Conference opponents last week, which included two 30-plus
kill performances. In Tusculum's match against Mars Hill, Lacy, who has also
earned SAC Volleyball Player of the Week honors each of the last two weeks,
tallied 18 kills, 11 digs and nine total blocks in the 3-1 win. Later in the
week against Newberry, Lacy scored 30 kills in 60 attempts with only three
errors, a .450 hitting percentage, to help lead her team to a 3-2 win. She
also chipped in 15 digs, three aces and two total blocks in the match. The
following night, she put away 33 kills in the Pioneers’ second consecutive
five-game match, a 3-2 win over Catawba. Lacy also scooped up 13 digs, while
adding one ace and four total blocks in the victory. For the week, Lacy hit
at a .379 clip, while also averaging 5.79 kills, 2.79 digs and 1.07 blocks
per game. Lacy is the first player from Tusculum to be named Sports Imports/AVCA
Division II National Player of the Week. The Pioneers are coached by Nathan
Baker.
