Carrie DeMange, a senior middle blocker from then-No. 17 Duke
University, has been named this week's Sports Imports/AVCA Division I
National Player of the Week after helping her team to wins over two tough
conference opponents. In Duke's match against Virginia Tech, DeMange hit
.406 while scoring a double-double with 16 kills and 10 digs in the 3-0 win.
She also chipped in four total blocks in the victory. She followed that up
with an incredible match in Duke’s 3-2 win over Virginia. Against the
Cavaliers, DeMange put away a match-high 29 kills, including eight in the
deciding game five. She also scooped up a match-high 28 digs, and narrowly
missed a triple-double, adding eight total blocks. DeMange has now scored a
double-double in 13 consecutive matches. For the week, DeMange hit .381 and
averaged 5.62 kills, 4.75 digs and 1.50 blocks per game. DeMange is the
first player from Duke University to earn the Sports Imports/AVCA Division I
National Player of the Week award. The Blue Devils are coached by Jolene
