AVCA Announces Affiliate Partner Program

Michigan and Ohio coaches associations first to partner in this new endeavor.

5/23/2007 -LEXINGTON, Ky. - The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) is pleased to announce its new affiliate partnership program, established to build relationships between the association and high school volleyball coaches across the country.

The Michigan Interscholastic Volleyball Coaches Association (MIVCA) and the Ohio High School Volleyball Coaches Association (OHSVCA) are the first two AVCA affiliate partners.

"The Ohio and Michigan groups are models of highly effective, well-managed volleyball coaches associations," said Kathy DeBoer, AVCA Executive Director. "The AVCA goal was to start our partnerships with the best of the best in high school associations. Other states will quickly see the benefits of affiliate membership and the advantages for their volleyball coaches of sharing best practices nationwide."

In this win-win scenario, affiliate partner member coaches who join the AVCA will receive the educational tools, product/member discounts, publications and other benefits of being an AVCA member. The AVCA, in turn, continues to grow its membership at the grassroots level, furthering its effort to unify the sport and its most influential individuals, the coaches.

"A community of coaches that includes and engages all levels of the sport is critical to the growth and development of volleyball," said DeBoer. "The AVCA seeks to provide the forums for respectful and meaningful dialogue between high school, club, college and international coaches. The 20% membership growth we have experienced in the past year attests to the fact that volleyball coaches are buying into that vision."

The AVCA will continue to add more affiliate partners in the months to come.
