February 7th-
Ivan Matos, a 6-4 senior outside hitter for IPFW, has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Men's Division I-II National Player of the Week.  Matos came off the bench to lead the Mastodons to a thrilling five-set victory over then-No. 6 Lewis, giving them their first win over a top-10 program since they knocked off then-No. 1 Pepperdine in the 2007 NCAA Tournament semifinals.  The Puerto Rican native hit .385 with a career-high 21 kills with eight of them coming in the second set.  He also added two digs and a pair of block attempts.  The senior enters the week ranked sixth in the MIVA averaging 3.38 kills per set.  This is the ninth time an IPFW men's volleyball player has been named a Sports Imports/AVCA Player of the Week, and the first since C.J. Macias took home the honor the week of January 16, 2007. The Mastodons are coached by Arnie Ball.
