January 31st - Kevin Tillie, a 6-6 junior outside hitter for No. 2 UC Irvine, has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Men's Division I-II National Player of the Week.  Tille put on an offensive show last week leading the Anteaters to four-set victories over two AVCA Top-15 programs in then-No. 6 Pepperdone and then-No. 5 USC.  Against the Waves, Tillie nailed 13 kills and hit .478 while accumulating five digs.  He stepped up his game in the second match collecting a team-high 18 kills while hitting .567 against the Trojans.  The France native had just one error in the match, and also recorded a career-high three block assists.  For the week, Tillie hit .528 while averaging 3.88 kills, 4.19 points, one dig per set and committed just three attack errors over eight sets.  This is the 18th time a UCI men's volleyball player has been named a Sports Imports/AVCA Player of the Week, and the first since Cory Yoder took home the honor the week of April 11th of last year.  The Anteaters are coached by John Speraw.
