Illinois Volleyball Coaches: We Need You!

Volleyball coaches in Illinois have spoken, we need a coaches association!

Illinois High School Volleyball Coaches Association, (IHSVCA) has partnered with the AVCA to kick off the 2010-11 season with a coaches association to serve you & your program.

The IHSVCA is working to provide you, our future members, with a website which will house all information regarding Illinois Girls & Boys volleyball, a State Coaches Poll, an All-Star Match, along with many more benefits of joining the IHSVCA.

IHSVCA currently has openings for a Treasurer, Clinic Coordinator, Poll Coordinator, Website Manager & district representatives for each class for girls & boys; if you are interested in volunteering please email Stephanie Gooden at stephanie.gooden@dist428.org.

Inaugural Illinois High School Clinic a Huge Success

3/1/2010

Illinois Clinic - Hambly Presentation

CHICAGO - The inaugural Illinois High School Volleyball Coaches Clinic, presented by Sports Imports and the American Volleyball Coaches Association, was a huge success as over 200 coaches, exhibitors and administrators attended Saturday's event at Brother Rice High School in Chicago. Coaches from across Illinois came together for a day of world-class coaching education, a look at some of the industry's top-of-the-line products, and conversations about the establishment of the Illinois High School Volleyball Coaches Association (IHSVCA).

"It was great to see all of the coaches at the clinic," said Brad Underwood, President of Sports Imports.  "Yet again, it shows the passion and enthusiasm the coaches in the state of Illinois have for the game.  The clinic was a success and I am sure the association will be in the future. It was exciting for Sports Imports to be involved from the beginning."

Coaches in attendance at Saturday's clinic had the opportunity to volunteer to serve in a leadership role for the IHSVCA.  From this group, an IHSVCA Board of Directors will be established to determine the initial goals of the association in its first year.  The IHSVCA will receive $2,600 from the proceeds of Saturday's event to assist with the formation of the association and its goals.

"The number of top high school coaches that attended this inaugural Illinois clinic was truly amazing," said Kathy DeBoer, AVCA Executive Director. "There is obviously great interest in getting a state coaches association started and we are thrilled to be part of the conversation. Our AVCA Affiliate Partners are essential to our connection with high school coaches and we look forward to a long partnership with the IHSVCA."

With the launching of the IHSVCA, Illinois will be the 10th state in the AVCA's Affiliate Partner Program, and the first state in which the AVCA has helped to facilitate the founding of its coaches association. In preparation for the Illinois Clinic, the AVCA ran online registration, built a state association and clinic website, acquired speakers, created a clinic schedule and secured exhibitors for the event.  Staff members from the AVCA also provided on-site event management.

There is already talk and much interest in hosting an Illinois Girls' High School Coaches Clinic this August to kick-off the 2010 fall season.  More information on last weekend's Illinois High School Volleyball Coaches Clinic and the formation of the IHSVCA can be found at www.avca.org/ihsvca.
