Role of AVCA Legislative
Committee
The purpose of the AVCA Legislative Committee is to educate the membership of
the legislative issues. In addition, the Legislative Committee is designed to
help communicate the most recent legislative issues and proposals to the entire
membership. When appropriate, the Legislative Committee will develop legislative
proposals to be submitted to the NCAA.
The committee is expected to meet by teleconference on an as-needed basis. The
committee consists of one coach representative from each division who also is a
representative to the respective Head Coaches Committee. Together, these
individuals will work with the Legislative Representative to the AVCA Board of
Directors to educate and propose legislation or positions.
The AVCA operating code will be utilized in order to get information collected,
organized and passed on to the appropriate people (i.e. NCAA, appropriate
committee, membership). The HCC representative(s) to the Legislative Committee
will assist the Legislative Representative with issues from that respective HCC.
Specific Initiatives:
* Communicate to legislative representative concerns of each division
* Educate the membership of the legislative issues and changes within each
division
* Work with legislative representative preparing legislation or AVCA positions
