Matthew Scott
University of Louisville
AVCA: Who or what has made you want to pursue coaching?
Matthew Scott: Being involved with the game of volleyball since I was in the 3rd grade has made me want to pursue
coaching. When given the chance at the University of Louisville to be involved within their program, I
knew that this would be the first opportunity in which I would be involved within the coaching aspect of
the game.
AVCA: Who or what has been your biggest coaching influence?
MS: The biggest influence on my coaching would have to be the University of Louisville Volleyball program
and Union Volleyball Club, as they both were the first to let me gain experience within coaching.
Without the chance to begin my coaching career, I do not know where I would be in the volleyball world
right now.
AVCA: Please list your past and present coaching/playing experiences:
- University of Louisville (Practice Player, Manager, Graduate Manager, Video Coordinator)
- Union Volleyball Club- 16 Elite Assistant Coach- 3 Years
- Private Volleyball Lesson Instructor
AVCA: What are you most looking forward to at the 2012 AVCA Annual Convention?
MS: What I am most looking forward to at the 2012 AVCA Annual Convention is the opportunity
to network and learn new strategies and techniques from other successful coaches. I am especially
looking forward to attending the educational sessions of the convention to expand my knowledge of the
game and learn about how others teach the game of volleyball.
