Fall Schedule Features the Top Women's
Volleyball Teams in Quest for Championship
New York (Aug. 10, 2005) - NCAA Volleyball on CSTV:
AVCA Match of the Week debuts this August on CSTV with one of the best
tournament events of the season -- the AVCA/NACWAA College Volleyball Showcase -
and continues with key matches, concluding with five conference championships.
The series includes 32 matches, including two, special-edition live Wednesday
night rivalry matches including Texas A&M at Texas.
For
the third straight year, College Sports Television (www.cstv.com)
in association with the American Volleyball Coaches Association (www.avca.org)
delivers the best volleyball schedule in the country featuring the top teams and
players from around the country in the pursuit of a national title, including
defending NCAA Division I Champion Stanford, and 2004 USA Today/CSTV Top 25
Coaches Poll final top-10 finishers Nebraska, Ohio State, Penn State, Hawai'i,
UCLA and Tennessee. Seven teams in this fall's lineup have combined to win 18
national championships since 1981. A total of 15 of the 25 schools in this years
pre-season poll will be part of the package, in addition to four other schools
that earned a berth in the 2004 NCAA Tournament.
To kick off the 2005 series edition, CSTV will televise live all four matches of
the AVCA/NACWAA College Volleyball Showcase, featuring defending national
champion Stanford, host Nebraska, Penn State and Hawai'i. The event, which will
be played in Omaha at the Qwest Center OMAHA on Aug. 26-27, begins with Penn
State versus Stanford on Aug. 26 at 7 p.m. ET, followed by Nebraska versus
Hawai'i at 9:30 p.m. ET. The third place and championship matches will be
contested the following day at 6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. ET, respectively.
Other top matches during the CSTV campaign include UCLA at Wisconsin, a
Southeastern Conference showdown between Florida and Tennessee and more
conference championships than any other network including the Big East,
Conference USA, Patriot League, Mountain West Conference and the WAC.
NCAA Volleyball on CSTV: AVCA Match of the Week features returning AVCA
All-Americans set to exhibit their skills. These stars includes Nebraska's Sarah
Pavan, Melissa Elmer and Jennifer Saleaumua, Penn State's Sam Tortorello,
Hawaii's Kanoe Kamana'o and Victoria Prince, Missouri's Lindsey Hunter, Texas
A&M's Laura Jones, Ohio State's Marisa Main, Notre Dame's Lauren Brewster,
Florida's Jane Collymore and Tennessee's Julie Knytych.
Women's collegiate volleyball will also be featured within CSTV's The #1 College
Sports Show, and other studio and original programs including Training Camp,
Coach and Dog Days. CSTV.com, the number-one online source for college sports
news, information, analysis and highlights, will also cover the sport from every
angle on a regular basis. CSTV.com will cover more than 400 volleyball matches
this fall through its exclusive GameTracker live scores and statistics feature
and will also broadcast video or audio of more than 300 matches.
