Education

Whether you coach at the college, high school or club level, the AVCA Convention offers educational sessions that are sure to make you a better coach and leader. The schedule includes more than 60 on-court, classroom and sand sessions with topics ranging from coaching philosophy and in-game strategy to mental preparation and new drill ideas.

Seminar highlights include classroom sessions led by Russ Rose, Taras Liskevych, Mary Wise, Beth Launiere, Terry Pettit and Shelton Collier, on-court presentations by Hugh McCutcheon, Christy Johnson, Jenny McDowell and Craig Skinner as well as sand sessions conducted by Nina Matthies, Mike Rangel and Karch Kiraly. Also, again this year all sessions will be labeled as beginner, intermediate or advanced to help you better target the presentations of interest to you.

In addition, you won't want to miss this year's pre-convention seminar. Recruiting expert Dan Tudor will lead a presentation on "Mastering the Art of Volleyball Recruiting." In this special in-depth session, Dan will take you through proven recruiting principles that are being used successfully by college coaches around the country. In addition, high school and club coaches will learn how to get players recruited on a more consistent basis as well as discover new ways to attract players to your local program. Topics covered will include what the millennial generation wants and why it should matter to you, the seven mistakes you might be making, spiking your prospect's objections every time, and the seven secrets to successful recruiting.

Please see the seminar schedule for details on specific speakers and topics. This schedule will be updated frequently as the convention approaches so check back often for the most recent information.

AVCA and USAV are partnering once again to offer coaches a USAV-Coaching Accreditation Program (CAP) certification.  Please click on the USAV-CAP link at the left for more details.
