LEXINGTON, KY (November 21, 2022) — The American Volleyball Coaches Association is proud to recognize its 2022 Class of Thirty Under 30 High School Awards recipients. AVCA’s Thirty Under 30 Awards Program, which was created in 2009 to honor up-and-coming coaching talent at all levels of the sport, was expanded in 2016 to include a category for high school coaches.
This year’s 30 recipients are a diverse group, ranging from head to assistant coaches, varsity to JV coaches, and girls to boys coaches. They represent schools in 18 different states and two countries, the United States and Germany. Joshua Aguirre coaches on a military base in Germany, and this is the first time that someone coaching outside the U.S. has earned the award. The 2022 class also includes Dustin Strueck, a current men’s volleyball student-athlete who plays for Cardinal Stritch University in Wisconsin in the spring and coaches boys volleyball at Pewaukee High School in the fall.
In order to be considered for the honor, high school coaches meeting the proper age requirement must be an AVCA member and actively coaching high school/interscholastic girls and/or boys volleyball.
