AVCA advocacy is built on membership engagement, research, and communication with administrators
The Board of Directors develops strategic principles that guide staff liaisons and, where appropriate, membership surveys inform advocacy positions.
The AVCA works through conferences, national governing organizations, and state associations to enact legislative or rules-related changes.
Successful advocacy efforts have included:
- Playing rules
- Season length
- Recruiting calendars
- Tournament size, format, and surface
- Practice protocols
- Transfer regulations
- Expansion of opportunities to participate in volleyball and beach volleyball
