LEXINGTON, KENTUCKY (April 25, 2023) — The American Volleyball Coaches Association is proud to announce its 20th annual Division III Men’s Volleyball All-America Teams.
Heading the list of the 28 players making the first and second teams are Springfield’s Jarrett Anderson, St. John Fisher’s Josh Bigford, and Rutgers Newark’s Andrew Zaleck, who join a short list of four-time Division III All-Americans. Anderson also becomes just the sixth four-time first-teamer. Patrick Mahoney and Corey Mayotte of Loras and Cameron Ternent of Mount Union become their school’s first-ever All-Americans.
In terms of total first- and second-team selections, North Central, Stevens, and Vassar have three players each, with all of Vassar’s players making the first team. Additionally, there are six schools with two All-Americans.
The 2023 Division III Player of the Year is Andrew Kim of Vassar College, and the Newcomer of the Year is Dylan Mulvaney, a freshman setter from Springfield College. The Coach of the Year is Vassar’s Richard Gary, and the 2023 Assistant Coach of the Year is Matt Marshall of Messiah University.
The selections were made by the AVCA Men’s Division III Volleyball All-America Committee: chairperson Dan Ames (Aurora), Jade Brubaker (Lancaster Bible), George Chapell (Endicott), Carlo Edra (New Jersey City), Kyle Exline (North Central), Evin Giglio (Wentworth), Dan Liberto (Marymount), Curtis Madson (Concordia [WI]), Kyle Mars (Baldwin Wallace), Phil Pisano (Penn State Behrend), Austin Voges (John Jay), Cal Wickens (Nazareth), and Robert Wingert (Misericordia).
