LEXINGTON, Ky. (November 8, 2023) — The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) is proud to announce the 18th annual AVCA Girls High School All-America Teams.
A total of 1,175 nominations were submitted to the AVCA and MaxPreps, resulting in 300 All-Americans and Honorable Mention All-American selections. Fifty athletes were named to each of the AVCA All-America First, Second, and Third Teams, and 150 athletes were named Honorable Mention All-America.
In case you missed it, 1,157 Senior athletes also received the AVCA Best and Brightest Award and 471 were named to the AVCA All-Region teams.
Requirements for nomination were that the student-athlete be in her senior year of high school, that the athlete had played in at least 50% of her team’s sets, and that she be nominated by her AVCA member high school head coach on both the AVCA website as well as via a MaxPreps stats submission. As part of the nomination process, her individual statistics for the entire season must have been entered into and submitted via MaxPreps, a free service that aggregates and distributes data on high school sports.
The AVCA Girls High School All-America Committee Chairs are as follows: Region 1: Gary Bynon, Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake High School; Region 2: Jason Monjes, Glenelg High School; Region 3: Alexis Glover, Wando High School; Region 4: Terri Wade, The Woodlands High School; Region 5: Max Miller, Dublin Coffman High School; Region 6: David Harris, Helias High School; Region 7: Mike Brandon, Gretna East High School; Region 8: Nancy Dorsey, St. James Academy; Region 9: Jess Papell, San Juan Hills High School; Region 10: Gary Steinfort, Eagle River High School.
