Division I Coach of the Year

JOHN COOK, UNIVERSITY OF NEBRASKA

• Has enjoyed a magnificent year of leading Nebraska volleyball
• Comes to Tampa with the top-ranked team in the country seeking his fifth national title
• Worked tirelessly with school officials to make Volleyball Day in Nebraska a reality, which resulted in 92,003 fans packing the school’s football stadium in August; the crowd was the largest to ever watch a women’s sporting event
• Picks up his third AVCA National Coach of the Year award to go with his 2000 and 2005 trophies
• Stands fifth among active Division I coaches in wins and is closing in on his 850th career victory
• Inducted into the American Volleyball Coaches Hall of Fame in 2017

 

Division I Assistant Coach of the Year

KELLEN PETRONE, UNIVERSITY OF PITTSBURGH

• Joined the Pitt volleyball staff in 2014 and has helped the Panther program reach new heights
• Guided team to another superb year in 2023, during which they reached the NCAA semifinals for a third-consecutive season
• Helped this year’s Panther squad capture a third-straight ACC title
  
• Was elevated to associate coach and recruiting coordinator this February after spending the previous seven seasons as an assistant
• Helps with recruiting, and the 2023 class was the school’s highest-ranked recruiting class ever.
