LEXINGTON, Ky. (June 7, 2023) — The AVCA is proud to announce its 16th annual High School All-America Teams for boys volleyball. Only players in their senior season whose high school head coaches are AVCA members were eligible for nomination.
There are 10 players on the first team in 2023, 10 on the second team, and three honorable mention selections. This year’s group of 23 student-athletes are from 19 high schools in eight different states.
Moanalua High School (HI) leads the way with three first- or second-team All-Americans, followed by Loyola High School (CA) and Newport Harbor High School (CA) with two each. Zach Stowe of West Jessamine (KY) High School becomes the first All-American from the state of Kentucky.
Sixteen colleges received at least one commitment from an All-American. Both Hawai‘i and Loyola Chicago have signed three first- or second-teamers, and Penn State and UCLA have signed two each.
The 2023 AVCA Boys’ High School Senior All-America selection committee includes Tyler McClure, Cathedral High School (Midwest Region), Bill Schreier, Wheaton Warrenville South HS (Midwest), Sean Tierney, Elder High School (Midwest), Neiad Ammary, Liberty High School (Northeast), Mike Lucia, Cicero-North Syracuse High School (Northeast), Michael Boehle, Loyola High School of Los Angeles (West), Mark Brubaker, La Costa Canyon HS (West), David Jones, La Jolla High School (West), Matt Marrujo, Servite High School (West), and Roger Peluso, Winter Park High School (South).
