NORTHEAST REGION COACH OF THE YEAR

Charlie Sullivan, Springfield College
2023 Record (as of April 18): 23-4
Sullivan, who is in his 25th year leading Springfield, has guided his talented 2023 squad to a 23-4 record and a top-6 ranking all season. His program has become one of most consistent winners in all of college sports, as witnessed by the fact that the Pride have been ranked in all 369 AVCA Division III polls, never dipping below No. 8.

EAST REGION COACH OF THE YEAR

Dan Buehring, Stevens Institute of Technology
2023 Record (as of April 18): 31-3
Stevens has enjoyed a successful three-year run since Buehring took over as coach in 2021. The Ducks are 31-3 heading into the 2023 NCAA postseason, which marks the second-straight season they’ve reached 30 wins. That record is even more impressive considering Stevens has played 11 matches against teams ranked in the top 10.

NORTH REGION COACH OF THE YEAR

Richard Gary, Vassar College
2023 Record (as of April 18): 24-1
For Vassar men’s volleyball, 2023 has been a year to remember. Following a loss to Stevens the second match of the season, the Brewers have won 23 straight heading into this year’s NCAA Championship. Gary’s squad moved atop the Division III Poll April 11, which marked the first time Vassar had ever been ranked No. 1.

WEST REGION COACH OF THE YEAR

Kyle Exline, North Central College
2023 Record (as of April 18): 22-3
It has been a record-breaking season for Exline and the Cardinals in 2023. On its way to what will be the best record in school history, North Central posted its first undefeated conference season, won its first CCIW regular-season and tournament titles, and brings a program-best, 14-match winning streak into this year’s NCAA Championship.
