Nominations for the 2024 AVCA Girls High School All-America Volleyball Teams, AVCA Best and Brightest Awards, and AVCA National Girls High School Coach of the Year are now open.

The AVCA is excited to announce that, in its seventeenth year of existence, the Girls’ High School All-America Award will now honor underclassmen AND seniors! On November 6th, the AVCA will announce three teams of AVCA All-Americans–24 First Team, 48 Second Team, 48 Third Team–and another 120 athletes as AVCA All-American Honorable Mention for a total of 240 athletes selected. The AVCA All-Region Teams will be composed of the top 50% of nominated players from each Region. The AVCA will not be pre-selecting any athletes this year, and all selections will be made exclusively from nominations received from October 11th through the 21st.

Introduced in 2021, the AVCA Best & Brightest Award was created in order to honor individual High School Senior athletes who excel on and off the court. The nomination process for this will be completed through the brand-new Best & Brightest nomination portal. Coaches can elect to nominate athletes for All-American Awards without nominating an athlete for the Best and Brightest Award and must have consent from the athlete to share their GPA via the nomination form.

In order to be eligible for the AVCA Best and Brightest Award, Senior athletes must earn at least a 3.5 Unweighted GPA (or the equivalent, if using a different GPA scale) during their Junior year AND play in 50% of their Varsity team’s sets during their Senior season. Additional tiers of recognition apply, as a First Team, Second Team, and Honorable Mention Best and Brightest team will be announced based on GPA.

The AVCA is committed to ensuring that the AVCA All-America Teams are chosen by those who are most qualified to identify the top high school athletes in the country: high school coaches. The AVCA High School All-America Committee is comprised of high school coaches representing ten regions from around the country. Each region will also award and recognize their own AVCA All-Region Team. Much like the AVCA All-America Committee, the ten AVCA High School All-Region Committees will each have diverse representation to ensure the top high school Seniors are selected.

 

FAQs:

Can I nominate more than one player? Yes, absolutely!

Are underclassmen eligible? YES! The All-America award is now open to seniors AND underclassmen.

Where is the Best and Brightest nomination form? It now has its own nomination form in the AVCA portal.

Am I required to submit my player for Best and Brightest? No.

Can I submit my player for Best and Brightest without nominating them for All-America? Yes. They are now two separate nomination forms.

Who can submit a nomination? AVCA member high school head coaches.

What if I submit only the AVCA nomination and don’t submit the MaxPreps stats? Players ARE still eligible for the AVCA All-America teams, All-Region teams without the MaxPreps stats submission. An athlete can also be named Best and Brightest without a stats submission.

What if I submit the MaxPreps stats and not the AVCA nomination? The athlete will NOT be eligible without an AVCA nomination.

If my player was on the AVCA All-America Watchlist, are they automatically on the AVCA All-America Teams or All-Region Teams? No, a separate nomination is required.

How do I nominate for the AVCA All-Region Team? There isn’t a separate form- players with completed All-America nominations will be considered for the All-Region teams.

What if I am a high school head coach, but have an AVCA club membership? Please contact the AVCA to have your account switched to a high school membership from a club membership only for the nomination period.

Can I edit my nomination after I submit it? No, but we can on the back end. Please contact Sarah Black with any changes.

Friday, October 11 – Online nominations for AVCA High School All-America & AVCA Best and Brightest open at 8:00 am (ET). AVCA National High School Coach of the Year nominations open.

Monday, October 21 – Online nominations for AVCA High School All-America & AVCA Best and Brightest close at 5:00 pm (ET). AVCA National High School Coach of the Year nominations close.

Wednesday, October 30 – AVCA Best and Brightest Awards Announced

Wednesday, November 6 – AVCA All-Region Teams Announced

Wednesday, November 12 – AVCA Girls’ High School All-America Teams announced
