MICHAEL BOEHLE, LOYOLA HIGH SCHOOL OF LOS ANGELES
- The veteran coach, who just completed his 26th season as Loyola head boys volleyball coach, picks up his second AVCA Coach of the Year honor in a row.
- Boehle led his team to a 32-1-1 record this year, and they finished as the top-ranked team in the AVCA/USA TODAY Sports Boys Volleyball Super 25 for the second-straight season.
- The Cubs closed their season by sweeping No. 3 Mira Costa to win the school’s sixth CIF SoCal Division I Regional Championship.
- After losing to rival Matre Dei in early March, Loyola finished the season by winning its final 13 matches, many of which were against nationally ranked opponents.
- Boehle’s team only dropped eight sets the entire year.
- He has owned the Manhattan Beach Surf Volleyball Club since 2011.

2024 AVCA BOYS HIGH SCHOOL REGION COACHES OF THE YEAR
The AVCA added regional coaches of the year to its boys high school volleyball awards lineup, starting in 2024. Here are the first group of recipients, who represent the four regions.
MIDWEST REGION COACH OF THE YEAR
Jordan Vidovic, Marist (IL) High School
2024 Record: 39-2
Coach Vidovic led Marist on a historic run that culminated in the school’s fourth Illinois boys state volleyball title. In the playoffs, the team swept two nationally ranked teams to finish the season 39-2. The RedHawks were ranked in the top five in every AVCA/USA TODAY Sports Super 25 Poll and finished the season at No. 2.
NORTHEAST REGION COACH OF THE YEAR
Jake Cline, Jamesville-DeWitt (NY) High School
2024 Record: 21-0
Cline wrapped up his fifth season at Jamesville-DeWitt by leading the team to the New York Division II state title. The Red Rams were dominant en route to their second-straight state championship, going 21-0 and dropping just six sets all season. That included a 12-0 set-record vs. four opponents this postseason.
SOUTH REGION COACH OF THE YEAR
Jesse Day, Winter Park (FL) High School
2024 Record: 30-0
It was a banner season for Day and the Wildcats in 2024, as they closed out a perfect 30-0 campaign with a thrilling 3-2 victory over defending state champ Miami Southwest. In the final, the Wildcats faced three match points in the fifth set, before scoring the final four to win 16-14 and earn the championship.
WEST REGION COACH OF THE YEAR
Michael Boehle, Loyola High School of Los Angeles
2024 Record: 32-1
The 2023 and 2024 AVCA Boys High School Coach of the Year led his team to a 32-1-1 record, which included numerous wins over ranked teams. Boehle’s squad closed the season as the CIF Division I Regional Championship and was the top-ranked team in the final AVCA/USA TODAY Sports Super 25 Poll for the second-straight season.
