2026 AVCA BOYS HIGH SCHOOL REGION COACHES OF THE YEAR
The AVCA added regional coaches of the year to its boys high school volleyball awards lineup in 2024. Here are the 2026 honorees, who represent the four regions.
MIDWEST REGION COACH OF THE YEAR
Josh Mullin, St. Xavier High School (KY)
2026 Record: 30-0
Josh Mullin and the Saint Xavier High School Boys Volleyball team has won back to back state championships in Kentucky and is currently on a 61 match winning streak. This season the team won 81 sets and lost only 4. During the season we defeated region powers, Elder HS, St. Xavier HS (Cincy) twice, Moeller HS, Roncalli, Cathedral, Lincoln Way East, and Trinity HS three time. St. Xavier finished the season as the #5 team in the USA Today/AVCA Super 25 rankings and #1 in the Midwest Region.
NORTHEAST REGION COACH OF THE YEAR
Jake Cline, Jamesville-Dewitt High School
2026 Record: 20-1-2
This past season, Coach Cline led Jamesville-DeWitt to a 19-1 record and a NYSPHSAA Division 2 State Championship, the program’s third state title in four years. The final was the clearest test of the season. J-D faced Eastport-South Manor, the undefeated defending state champions, and fell behind 2-1 in sets. When their starting middle hitter went down with an injury in the fourth set, the situation only got steeper. The team won the final two sets anyway and captured the state title. Over the last four seasons, Jake’s teams have compiled an 81-3 overall record, including a 101-15 record since he took over the program six years ago.
SOUTH REGION COACH OF THE YEAR
Tim Eidson, Jonathan Edwards Classical Academy
2026 Record: 29-1 (fall and spring combined)
Tim Eidson volunteers his time to coach the Varsity and JV Boys VB teams at Jonathan Edwards Classical Academy (JECA) in Whites Creek, TN. He started the boys program from scratch in Sept of 2024 with only 9 boys. This season, Jonathan Edwards Classical Academy finished the season with a 29-1 record and a Tennessee Boys Volleyball Association (TBVA) State Tournament Championship. Eidson also serves as the Vice President of the TBVA Board of Directors and working to achieve varsity sanctioning in Tennessee.
