The AVCA proud to name its 2026 Boys High School Volleyball Coach of the Year. This year’s recipient is Greg Snyder of Mira Costa High School.
GREG SNYDER, MIRA COSTA HIGH SCHOOL
- Snyder completed only his third year as the head coach at Mira Costa High School.
- En route to picking up his first AVCA Boys Coach of the Year honor, Snyder guided the Mustangs to a 37-2 record.
- His Mira Costa team finished the season ranked No. 1 in the AVCA/USA TODAY SPORTS Boys Volleyball Super 25 for the second year in a row.
- This also was the second-consecutive season he led the Mustangs to the CIF DI boys volleyball state title.
- He replaced four starters from the 2025 roster and did not take a step back.
- Snyder was the 2025 AVCA West Region Coach of the Year.

2026 AVCA BOYS HIGH SCHOOL REGION COACHES OF THE YEAR
The AVCA added regional coaches of the year to its boys high school volleyball awards lineup in 2024. Here are the 2026 honorees, who represent the four regions.
MIDWEST REGION COACH OF THE YEAR
Josh Mullin, St. Xavier High School (KY)
2026 Record: 30-0
Josh Mullin and the Saint Xavier High School boys volleyball team have earned back-to-back Kentucky state championships, and they have a current 61-match winning streak. This season, his the team won 81 sets and lost only 4, and they defeated region powers, Elder HS, St. Xavier HS (Cincinnati) twice, Moeller HS, Roncalli, Cathedral, Lincoln Way East, and Trinity HS three times. St. Xavier finished the season ranked No. 5 in the AVCA/USA Today Super 25 Poll and No. 1 in the Midwest Region.
NORTHEAST REGION COACH OF THE YEAR
Jake Cline, Jamesville-Dewitt High School
2026 Record: 20-1-2
This season, Coach Cline led Jamesville-DeWitt to a 19-1 record and a NYSPHSAA Division 2 State Championship, the program’s third state title in four years. The final was the clearest test of the season, as J-D faced Eastport-South Manor, the undefeated defending state champions, and fell behind 2-1. When their starting middle hitter went down with an injury in the fourth set, the situation only got worse. The team won the final two sets, and captured the state title. Over the last four seasons, Cline’s teams have compiled an 81-3 overall record; they also are 101-15 since he took over the program six years ago.
SOUTH REGION COACH OF THE YEAR
Tim Eidson, Jonathan Edwards Classical Academy
2026 Record: 29-1 (fall and spring combined)
Eidson volunteers his time to coach the varsity and JV boys volleyball teams at Jonathan Edwards Classical Academy in Whites Creek, TN. He started the boys program from scratch in September 2024 with only nine players. This season, Coach Edwards led his team to 29-1 record and a Tennessee Boys Volleyball Association State Tournament championship. Eidson also serves as the vice president of the TBVA Board of Directors and working to get the varsity sanctioning for the sport in Tennessee.
WEST REGION COACH OF THE YEAR
Greg Snyder, Mira Costa High School
2026 Record: 37-2
Coach Snyder completed his third year as head coach at Mira Costa High School in 2026 and led his team to back-to-back CIF DI state titles and back-to-back AVCA/USA Today Super 25 national championships. Mira Costa faced a rugged schedule in 2026 and finished with a 37-2 record, ending the season on a 14-match winning streak.
