Division III Men’s Coach of the Year

JAMIE PETERSON, WITTENBERG UNIVERSITY

• Peterson earns her first national Division III Coach of the Year honor.
• She becomes the first female coach to win the AVCA award for Division III men’s volleyball.
• That is one of a series of firsts for the program, as Peterson’s team made its first NCAA Championship appearance and has advanced to the semifinals.
• Wittenberg beat three ranked times at the NCAA Regional last weekend, which marks the first time the Tigers have posted three consecutive wins over Top-20 opponents.
• Her squad enters the NCAA semifinal on a 14-match victory streak and has 24 wins this season; both are program bests.
• The Tigers won the 2026 MCVL Tournament championship, which is the school’s first.
• Peterson took over as interim head coach midway through the 2025 season, and her record since then is 31-8.

Division III Men’s Assistant Coach of the Year

MATT MARSHALL, MESSIAH UNIVERSITY

• Marshall is in his ninth season as an assistant coach with Messiah men’s volleyball.
• He helped the Falcons advance to the regional final of the 2026 NCAA Division III Championship.
• The Falcons were No. 2 in the March 10 and 17 AVCA Division III Polls, which marked the school’s highest rank ever.
• Marshall helped three players from this year’s squad earn AVCA All-America honors—two made the first team and one is on the second team.
• The 2026 team finished with 26 wins, which marks the third season in the last four the Falcons have had more than 25 victories.
• His primary responsibilities include serving as the recruiting coordinator and offensive coordinator.
