Nominations are now closed. Selections will be announced soon.
Nominating Procedures
There are no restrictions regarding how many student-athletes one team may nominate, as there are no restrictions on the number of student-athletes that one team can place on the AVCA Boys’ High School Senior All-America team. Please use your professional judgment to nominate those student-athletes who legitimately have a chance to earn honors.
Please Note: If your athlete was listed on the AVCA Boys’ High School Senior All-America Watch List, you DO still need to nominate him during the online nomination period. Being on the watch list DOES NOT serve as his official nomination.
Nomination Requirements
- The student-athlete must have completed or in the process of completing his senior year of eligibility;
- The student-athlete must be nominated by his AVCA member head coach. A head coach cannot nominate an athlete from another school: he/she can ONLY nominate his/her athletes;
- The student-athlete must have participated in 1/2 (50%) of all sets (not matches) during the current season.
Best and Brightest Awards
The AVCA Best & Brightest Award is meant to honor individual High School Senior athletes who excel on and off the court. The nomination for this will be included in the All-American nomination form as an optional additional section. Coaches can elect to nominate athletes for All-American Awards without nominating an athlete for the Best and Brightest Award and must have consent from the athlete to share their GPA via the nomination form.
In order to be eligible for the Best and Brightest Award, Senior athletes must earn at least a 3.5 Unweighted GPA on a 4.0 scale (or the equivalent, if using a different GPA scale) during their Junior year AND play in 50% of their Varsity team’s sets during their Senior season.
Some additional tiers of recognition apply:
- AVCA Best and Brightest First Team: 3.8 Unweighted GPA or above
- AVCA Best and Brightest Second Team: 3.65 Unweighted GPA or above
- AVCA Best and Brightest Honorable Mention: 3.5 Unweighted GPA or above
