2025 Division I Awards Changes:
New AVCA Position Specific Awards
This fall, the AVCA is introducing position specific awards to bring more recognition to some of college volleyball’s top athletes. These new awards include:
- Outside Hitter of the Year
- Middle Blocker of the Year
- Rightside Hitter of the Year
- Setter of the Year
- Libero of the Year
The award selections will be determined by the All-American Committee and celebrated at the All-American Banquet on Friday, December 19. Winners will not be shared prior to the banquet.
Increasing All-Region Voting on each Ballot
The AVCA will now require coaches to vote for 20 athletes instead of 14 on their All-Region voting ballot. This change will allow coaches to better vote for the athletes named to the All-Region team and those named All-Region Honorable Mention. When coaches could only vote for 14 athletes, members were unable to properly weigh in on the Honorable Mention selections.
AVCA Awards Region Alignment:
The AVCA uses a DI Awards Region Alignment based upon state lines instead of conference affiliation. Here is map of the regions:

- Wednesday, December 3 – All-Region Voting CLOSE
- Tuesday, December 9 – All-Region Awards Announced
- Thursday, December 11 – All-America Video ID Form Deadline
- Wednesday, December 17– All-America Teams Announced
