The DIII Presidents Councilapproved a pilot program that would allow student-athletes to continue competing for their institution while enrolled at a separate institution that does not sponsor athletics and has a formal academic agreement with their school. Details here.
Beach Volleyball News
University of Utah athletics announced that the Utes’ beach volleyball program will be discontinued after nine seasons of competitive play. Currently, there are only three other Big 12 institutions that sponsor beach volleyball. With only four sponsored programs in the conference, there is no automatic qualifier to the NCAA tournament for the Big 12 champion.
DIII Howard Payne University has cut the ribbon for the new Ben and Bertha Mieth Outdoor Pavilion and Woody and Miki Martin Volleyball Courts. The three NCAA-regulation beach volleyball courts will be used for the launch of beach volleyball at HPU in the fall of 2025.

The final day of the 2025 NAIA Women’s Beach Volleyball Invitational opened with Corban (Ore.) and OUAZ (Ariz.) winning their respective semifinals and ended with OUAZ (Ariz.) winning the Invitational title. After finishing second at the event last year, the Spirit captured its first championship 3-0.

The United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee has named USA Volleyball’s Bill Hamiter as Paralympic Coach of the Year for 2024. Hamiter has led the U.S. Women’s Sitting Volleyball Team to a historic third-consecutive Paralympic gold medal at Paris 2024.
USA Volleyball Announces 2025 Boys U19 National Team. At the end of training, 12 athletes will be selected to compete at the 2025 NORCECA Boys U19 Pan American Cup, and another 12 will be selected to compete at the 2025 FIVB Boys U19 World Championship.

NCAA Division I
University of Utah beach volleyball head coach Brenda Whicker announced her retirement from coaching after spending the past eight seasons at the helm of the Utes.
University of California, Riverside has appointed Branden Higa as the new head coach of UCR Women’s Volleyball.
Mercer University announced that 23-year collegiate coaching veteran Steve Benson has been named as the volleyball program’s 14th head coach.
University of South Dakota announced a three-year contract extension for head volleyball coach Leanne Williamson that will run through the fall of 2030.
NCAA Division II
Saint Leo University Athletics are proud to announce the return of Abigail (Moser) Keim as the new head coach of the volleyball program.
NCAA Division III
Heather Benson was named the head women’s volleyball coach at Keystone College.
