The Championships Committee is recommending 2026 NCAA Convention legislation to implement the NCAA Power Index (NPI) as the sole selection criteria for team sports, starting in 2026-27. Learn about NPI here.
Proposed the elimination of a .500 record or higher for postseason selection, the requirement of nonconference in-region competition and the elimination of RACs.
The committee is also recommending the discontinuation of DII championship festivals after the 2026 fall sports festival.
The Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) announced the University of Jamestown will join the league as an associate member in men’s volleyball. The 2025-26 inaugural season of GLVC men’s volleyball will feature eight institutions.

2025 USMC/AVCA Battles Won Award The AVCA and US Marine Corps are looking to recognize a volleyball coach and athlete who overcame a significant obstacle during the past year (physical, mental, or a combination of both). The selected winners will be provided round trip travel to the AVCA Convention this December in Kansas City, Missouri to be recognized and celebrated at the event. Nominations are due by Friday, August 15.
