Collegiate Volleyball
The NCAA will maintain 4-year student-athlete eligibility rules for through 2026-27. Per a statement, the Division I Administrative Committee will “maintain existing eligibility rules as they pertain to student-athletes competing in no more than four seasons of athletics competition in a particular sport over a consecutive five-year period.” Coverage from USA Today.
The NCAA approved a rule changethat willallow athletes and athletic staff to bet on pro sports (start date Nov. 22). This doesn’t change the NCAA rule forbidding athletes from betting on college sports. The NCAA also prohibits sharing information about college competitions with bettors, and doesn’t accept advertising or sponsorships of NCAA championships by betting sites.
The Top 30 honorees for the 2025 NCAA Woman of the Year Award have been announced. The list includes three volleyball student-athletes. The winner will be announced this fall and recognized at the NCAA Convention in January.
Florida Gulf Coast University‘s volleyball head coach, Thais Baziquetto-Allen has been announced as a member of the 2025 NJCAA Volleyball Hall of Fame Class. She holds a NJCAA head coaching record of 231-53 as well as claiming seven Conference Championships and three consecutive national titles.
The Alabama A&M Bulldogs had 1,859 fans on hand for their Oct. 22 match against Alabama State, and shattered the HBCU volleyball attendance mark of 1,488 fans set by Savannah State last month.
St. Thomas University (NAIA) hosted a record crowd of 2,307 fans on Saturday afternoon and swept visiting New College of Florida.
The AVCA is proud to announce the fifth edition of its Best and Brightest Awards, which honors individual high school Senior student-athletes who excel on and off the court. Athletes must have earned at least a 3.5 Unweighted GPA on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent) during their junior year AND played in 50% of their varsity team’s sets during their senior season.

Arkansas State University and head volleyball coach Brian Gerwig reached a new agreement that extends his contract to 2029. The 2024 Sun Belt Conference Coach of the Year led the Red Wolves to their first postseason appearance since 2018 with back-to-back trips to the NIVC in 2023 and 2024.

Indiana Wesleyan University Athletics announces that Deane Webb, the current Athletic Director, will step down from his administrative role to become the inaugural head coach of the university’s new Men’s Volleyball program, set to begin its first season of competition in Spring 2027.
