Collegiate Volleyball

A crowd of 17,675, the largest indoor volleyball-only regular-season crowd in NCAA history, saw a classic before No. 1 Nebraska ultimately survived with a 3-2 win over No. 18 Creighton on Tuesday night at CHI Health Center Omaha.

2025 AVCA Boy’s Talent Showcase Registration is Now Open! This recruiting event provides high school boys the opportunity to showcase their skills in front of collegiate coaches who attend the AVCA Convention. The AVCA will also be offering an athlete skills clinic.

The 5th Annual AVCA Fall Volleyball Officials Appreciation Week is September 26 – October 4, 2025. This nine day period is set aside for girls and women’s volleyball teams to make sure our officials know how grateful the volleyball community is for the integral role they play. Learn more!

Professional Volleyball

Athletes Unlimited announced the final roster and full broadcast schedule for the rebranded 2025 Athletes Unlimited Pro Volleyball Championship. 44 of the world’s top players have been invited to compete in an exclusive, high-stakes tournament to determine the ultimate champion of the sport. 15 of 24 games will be aired live on ESPN platforms.

Versant and League One Volleyball have a new multiyear media-rights pact that will begin in January, with USA Network set to begin airing primetime LOVB matches on Wednesday nights at 8pm ET. The deal includes rights for LOVB’s playoffs for USA Network.

Volleyball broke records at the FIVB Women’s World Championship 2025 with unprecedented audiences across three of volleyball’s most important markets: China, Italy and Türkiye.

USA Volleyball has added two new qualifers:

USAV Girls West Coast Qualifier. The inaugural event, the 22nd girls junior national qualifier in the series, will be held April 2-4, 2026 in Anaheim, California. Registration is now open.
2026 Boys West Coast Qualifier. The inaugural event will take place January 2-4, 2026 in Irvine, California. Winners of the Open divisions in Irvine will receive free entry to the Phoenix event in July.

Registration opens Sept. 24, 2025.

Legendary Owens Volleyball Coach Sonny Lewis has announced his retirement. Lewis will go down as one of the most successful coaches locally, regionally and nationally. In 24 seasons his teams went 807-240 overall, won 19 conference titles and three NJCAA national titles, and finished in the top 4 three times in 12 total national tournament appearances.
