On Thursday, Nebraska unveiled a statueof former volleyball coach John Cook on the north side of the newly christened John Cook Arena at the Bob Devaney Sports Center. Several hundred boosters, administrators, and former players were present for the ceremony, along with the current Huskers. “Nebraska is the epicenter of volleyball in this country. It’s only fitting to me that this goes up to honor Nebraska volleyball here, and set the stage for the rest of the country,” Cook said.
Western Kentucky has also announced plans to build a statue of head volleyball coach Travis Hudson, who is in his 31st year with the Hilltoppers.
Sept. 16th’s Nebraska-Creighton women’s college volleyball showdown scored 388,000 viewers on FS1 – the most-watched women’s college volleyball telecast in the network’s history.

2025 AVCA Boy’s Talent Showcase – Register today! This recruiting event provides high school boys the opportunity to showcase their skills in front of collegiate coaches who attend the AVCA Convention. The AVCA will also be offering an athlete skills clinic.
The 5th Annual AVCA Fall Volleyball Officials Appreciation Week is September 26 – October 4, 2025. This nine day period is set aside for girls and women’s volleyball teams to make sure our officials know how grateful the volleyball community is for the integral role they play. Learn more!
2025 AVCA Board of Directors Elections: Voting for AVCA President-Elect, NCAA DI Women’s Representative, NAIA Representative, and Assistant Coaches Representative positions on the AVCA Board of Directors will be conducted October 27-30, 2025.
Candidates interested in seeking any available AVCA board positions need to present a written notification of interest via e-mail to Kennedy Wells, and must also complete the AVCA Board Questionnaire (which will be sent upon receipt of the written notification of interest) by Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at 5:00p.m. Eastern Time.
Candidates for AVCA President-Elect must be at least 21 years of age and be an active and in good standing AVCA member on the date of election through their term(s) on the AVCA Board.
Any interested director/representative candidates must be at least 21 years of age, be an active coach within the coaching group (NCAA DI Women head coach, NAIA head coach, Assistant Coach) they will represent and shall be an active AVCA member in good standing on the date of election through their term(s) on the AVCA Board.
Current NCAA DI Women Representative, Coach Marie Zidek (DePaul) will be the incumbent and will be seeking a second three-year term.

Meet the Coaches and Week 1 Captains of the 2025 Athletes Unlimited Pro Volleyball Championship. The upcoming Championship, which starts October 3, promises to deliver high-caliber play and an intriguing competition between 44 of the world’s greatest professional players. AU’s unique format puts the top four players from each week in captains’ chairs to draft their own teams, and five accomplished coaches will work alongside the captains each week, offering their decades of playing and coaching experience.

USA Volleyball
The U.S. Women’s National Team swept Mexico on Sunday to win gold at the NORCECA Final Six in Guadalajara, Mexico. The U.S. went undefeated (7-0) and won the tournament for the second time. In five editions of the Final Six, the U.S. has won two golds (2023, 2025), two silvers (2022, 2024) and a bronze (2021).
The U.S. Menadvanced to 2025 World Quarterfinals with a four-set defeat of Slovenia 3-1 in the 2025 World Championship Round of 16 in Manila, Philippines. The U.S. Men (4-0) will face Bulgaria (4-0) in the quarterfinals on Thursday, Sept. 25.
The next generation of indoor volleyball stars will gather at the Olympic & Paralympic Training Center in Colorado Springs for the Boys Indoor NTDP Fall Training Series, Sept. 25-28. Nearly 130 athletes will sharpen their skills under the guidance of elite coaches in a high-performance training environment.
