The AVCA is pleased to announce three groups of recipients—College, Club, and High School—of its 2025 Thirty Under 30 Awards.
The Thirty Under 30 program recognizes up-and-coming coaches in different sectors of the sport who serve in a range of roles, from head coach to volunteer assistant to club director. Each of this year’s recipients had to be age 30 or under as of Dec. 31, 2024, to qualify for the award.
TheAVCA Thirty Under 30 High School Awards shine a light on rising leaders in the sport at the interscholastic level. The AVCA added a separate high school category in 2016, and this year’s group includes coaches from 22 different states.
The State of Georgia was well represented on March 29, 2025 in Austin, TX with Southside Slam placing second overall at this national invitational tournament. The team was honored to receive their medals from USA National Mens Team Coach and Volleyball Legend, Karch Karaly. Learn more.

Illinois (IVCA)
The Illinois High School Association (IHSA) Board approved three significant changes to its classification policy, which will impact volleyball and other sports starting in the 2025-26 school year. The changes include moving back to fixed classification cutoffs based on enrollment; changes to the multiplier waiver process; and shifting the Success Adjustment Policy from a two-year classification cycle to a rolling three-year period. These adjustments aim to address competitive equity and provide greater consistency and understanding for schools. Read more.

The Kansas Volleyball Association (KVA) All-Star Match is June 7, 2025, at 5pm, at Washburn Rural High School. Email the KVA for more information, including to sponsor the match.
The KVCA released its third boys’ volleyball poll on April 23. The St. Xavier Tigers remains the #1 team in the state and Trinity holds steady at #2. For #3, there is a three-way tie between DeSales, Henry Clay, and Ryle. An updated poll is planned to be shared every two weeks throughout the spring season.
Involvement in High School Activity Programs is Life-Changing for Nebraska Student: Eden Coppersmith’s involvement in high school volleyball and other activities as a senior at Paxton High School helped her overcome significant challenges, including Spina Bifida and selective mutism. Her journey underscores the transformative impact of high school sports programs.
Pre-register until May 5, for the 11th Annual New York Volleyball Coaches Association (NYVCA) Coaches Clinic on May 16-17, at Georgian Lakeside Resort (384 Canada St, Lake George NY 12845), and on Saturday at Queensbury High School (409 Aviation Road, Queensbury, NY 12804) featuring top coach presenters as LJ Marx, Erin Glickert, Karl Caputo; and nutrition and fitness professionals as Theresa Delorenzo and Mike Sirani.
The NCHSAA recognized Ardrey Kell High School and Franklin High School volleyball teams for their exceptional performance, sportsmanship, and dedication through the 2024-25 NCHSAA Commissioner’s Trophy. Ardrey Kell’s team, led by Coach Zoe Bell, spearheaded initiatives to support families affected by Hurricane Helene and children in Nigeria. Franklin High’s team, coached by Bekah Brooks, actively participated in community outreach, including their Unify March Madness initiative for individuals with disabilities. Read more.

The UIL is changing the playoff structure for high school volleyball, allowing teams to opt for a single-elimination or double-elimination format. This new option aims to provide more flexibility and competitive balance in the postseason.

The AVCA Hall of Fame honors those who are the best of the best. Since 2003, the association has provided the ultimate recognition for those who have made significant contributions to the sport by naming them to its Hall of Fame. Individuals representing any level or division of the sport can be nominated in three categories: coach/educator, administrator, and organization.
Celebrating 33 years of academic excellence in volleyball, the AVCA Team Academic Award honors collegiate and high school varsity volleyball teams that are successful in the classroom.
Online nominations open May 29, 2025 and close June 30 at 5:00pm ET.
The season-opening women’s volleyball showcase will take place at Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln, Nebraska, on Aug. 22–24, and at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, on Aug. 25. Reminder that if your membership is not renewed before the expiration date, your account will enter EXPIRED status. This includes limited access to the AVCA website and services for up to one year. Note – Expired members may NOT nominate for AVCA awards! If you still haven’t renewed after a year in expired status, you will not receive any AVCA member benefits until you rejoin.
